After 11 years of Advantage DJs, I’ve made the bold decision to rebrand to “DJ Kelso”.
Running a DJ agency has been a very rewarding and challenging part of my life. But in the past 24 months, I’ve found my career has been moving in a different direction.
It all started when I found some success on social media. I noticed I was getting more enquiries that were specifically requesting my services. I was very humbled and grateful that so many people wanted to lock me in as their personal DJ and MC.
I was also balancing the workload of running an established DJ agency. Prepping for a large volume of events every week, managing a team, scouting new talent, managing the accounts, processing new enquiries, emails, etc. It’s a lot of work.
The catalyst came in December 2024 when I was in Europe with my fiancée. I found that I couldn’t fully immerse myself in the holiday. This is because my team members were booked for weddings back home, and as the business owner, I was responsible for ensuring everything went perfectly.
I realised that since 2014, I’d never had a REAL break from work. Apparently, this isn’t normal…haha!
So, after a lot of thought (and imposter syndrome), I decided to “go solo”.
This has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Most importantly, it’s given me the freedom to deliver a level of service that previously wasn’t possible. Nothing makes me happier than feeling like I’m “part of the family” at a wedding. It’s the best job in the world, honestly.
I also wanted to become much clearer with my brand. Running a solo DJ business under the name “Advantage DJs” just didn’t make sense anymore. (I tried it, believe me. But it didn’t feel right).
Moving on, I want to thank everyone who’s ever worked for Advantage DJs. (Special shoutouts to the OGs: Jo, Tim, Julian, Nick, Luke and Alex). Your hard work and commitment to our couples has always been sincerely appreciated. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
And of course, thank you to everyone who’s chosen Advantage DJs for their wedding entertainment. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
So, now it’s time for a new era.
I want to clarify that all my bookings are going ahead exactly the same. You can just call me “DJ Kelso” now!
Much love,
Brendan, Maddi and Wesley.
